Graduated in Medicine and Surgery with full marks, honors and special mention at the Clementi Prize. He obtained the Diploma of Specialization in Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Udine, with full marks and honors.

He obtained the Academic Title of Doctor of Research in Clinical Sciences and Technologies at the University of Udine.

He specialized in head and neck oncology surgery and reconstructive microsurgery at:

– Hietzing Hospital, Institute for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Dentistry, Vienna – Austria

– St. George Hospital, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, London – United Kingdom.

 

Who I am

He has participated in the creation of numerous courses and masters in Italy and abroad, including: Master in Oral Surgery (University of Udine), Master in Implantology (University of Udine), Cadaver dissection course on sinus lift (University of Ljubljana), Dissection course on reconstructive surgery (University of Paris), Practical course on cadaver of Oral Surgery (University of Budapest), Cadaver Dissection Course on Oral Surgery and Implantology (University of Malta).

Author of chapters in Maxillofacial Surgery treatises and of over 70 scientific publications of international importance. Speaker at numerous international conferences and teacher in international courses of reconstructive surgery.

He is currently the Director of the Maxillofacial Surgery Operating Unit (accredited with the National Health Service) at the Clinica del Mediterraneo in Ragusa.

He is a member of the Editorial Board of 6 international scientific journals, including the 2 with the highest Impact Factor in the sector (International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery). In 2008 he obtained the title of Fellow of the European Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (FEBOMS), issued by the European Commission of the U.E.M.S. (European Union of Medical Specialists, Brussels); to date he is the youngest surgeon in Europe to have received this title.

In 2014 he obtained the national qualification as University Professor of Maxillofacial Surgery (second level).

Contract professor since 2014, at the University of Catania.

Abstract

Evaluation and comparison of the clinical outcomes of bone regeneration in maxillary sinus augmentation using heterologous bone block grafts versus particulate bone substitutes.
Maxillary sinus augmentation with both heterologous bone block graft and particulate bone substitute. Histological analysis to assess bone regeneration and integration of the graft materials.
