Dr. Banikas graduated from the School of Dental Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki / Military School of Officer Corps, Hellenic Army, Thessaloniki (DDS degree) and from the Medical School of the Democritus University of Thrace (MD degree) [all in Greece]. He trained in 424 Military Hospital of Thessaloniki and in G. Papanikolaou University Ηospital (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki). Dr. Banikas gained a Certification of Complete Training (C.C.T.) according to the European Medical Directive 2005/36/EC and a U.E.M.S. recognized qualification of the medical specialty of “Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery”, after succeeding to the regional Board Exams. During his training, Dr. Banikas gained valuable and international experience in various topics of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, including Oral, Head and Neck Oncology and Reconstruction, Maxillofacial Trauma, Orthognathic surgery and Salivary gland surgery. He also attended several training courses. He is a member of the European Association for Cranio Maxillo-Facial Surgery, Association of Osteosynthesis Cranio Maxillo-Facial and the Hellenic Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and he is a registered member of both Medical and Dental Associations of Thessaloniki. Dr. Banikas has published and lecture both nationally and internationally and currently he is Consultant at the 424 General Military Hospital of Thessaloniki and private practicing at the Euromedica Medical Center in Thessaloniki and in his own office in Katerini [all in Greece].

Οστεοακτινονέκρωση: αιτιοπαθογένεια, χειρουργική αντιμετώπιση και αποκατάσταση με ελεύθερους κρημνούς

 Περίληψη

 Η οστεοακτινονέκρωση είναι από τις πιο σοβαρές επιπλοκές της ακτινοθεραπείας για τον στοματοφαρυγγικό καρκίνο. Οι ασθενείς που λαμβάνουν ακτινοθεραπεία άνω των 6000 cGy έχουν περίπου 9% συχνότητα εμφάνισης οστεοακτινονέκρωσης (ΟΑΝ) της κάτω γνάθου. Η ΟΑΝ μπορεί να πάρει διάφορες μορφές, από μικρή ασυμπτωματική έκθεση οστού, έως και  παθολογικά κατάγματα. Είναι μια επιπλοκή που επηρεάζει σοβαρά την ποιότητα ζωής των ογκολογικών ασθενών. Η πρόληψη και οδοντιατρική διαχείριση αυτών των ασθενών είναι πολύ σημαντική γιατί η OΑN είναι τρεις φορές συχνότερη σε ενόδοντες από ό,τι σε νωδούς ασθενείς, συχνά ως αποτέλεσμα τραύματος από εξαγωγές. Στην παρουσίαση θα αναφερθούμε στην πρόληψη, την θεραπευτική αντιμετώπιση και τις σύχρονες χειρουργικές τεχνικές αποκατάστασης.
